Mobile validation

DDS validate mobile numbers by making a query to the HLR database (Home Location Register), which is a network of databases that hold information on every mobile phone subscriber, containing details of every SIM card and MSISDN (telephone number) issued by every mobile phone operator. This is one of the facilities that is part of all mobile network operations, and applies worldwide. The system directly receives information from mobiles, and updates (eg) the location of mobiles as they move around

The validation service does not result in silent calls as the subscribers number never rings.

Landline validation

The DDS landline validation service provides a live check against supplied landline telephone numbers (prefix 01 or 02) to determine whether the number is currently available. It relies on facilities available within the telephone network to determine the status of a line, and has been used for more than 8 years.
